The tradition began in September of 1996 when our first Bandana’s BAR-B-Q opened in Arnold, Missouri. Our mission remains the same, to provide the best Southern Style BAR-B-Q, with exceptionally quick service, in a friendly, family atmosphere. Our real wood pit smokers operate 24 hours a day, which is why you can “SMELL THAT SMOKE” every time you come to Bandana’s BAR-B-Q.
Our meats are hand-rubbed before they go into the smoker. This is how we apply our special Bandana’s Dry Rub, which contains over a dozen herbs and spices. This combination requires 11 to 14 hours in the smoker to produce our signature Bandana’s BAR-B-Q taste. The BAR-B-Q then goes straight from the smoker and is hand-cut to order.
We take just as much care with our side dishes as we do with our meat. Our Potato Salad and Cole Slaw are hand made, fresh each day. Our Bar-B-Q Baked Beans are slow-cooked with our special sauce and chunks of smoked meat. We give the same attention to our other sides like Fried Corn on the Cob, and Grilled Garlic Bread. Bandana’s is a barbeque restaurant, that is what we are all about, and consistency is the key.
Our customers are the most important ingredient to our success and we consider them friends. That is why we treat every guest like they are guests in our home when they stop by for a meal.
We Start With American Hardwoods
We know American hardwoods produce a mellow smoke that complements the taste of our barbecued food. For this reason, we employ woodsmen that understand our strict standards requiring fresh, green hardwood, grown on high ground. They hand-select and harvest this hardwood for Bandana’s and deliver this fresh-cut wood directly to our restaurants.
Our meats are hand-rubbed before they go into the smoker. This is how we apply our special Bandana’s Dry Rub, which contains over a dozen herbs and spices. This 50-year-old family recipe gives all our meats that unique Bandana’s flavor.
It still takes 11 to 14 hours for our meats to reach their peak of tenderness and flavor. Each Bandana’s location has two, large capacity slow smokers that operate 24/7 to guarantee there will always be freshly barbecued meats ready for our customers. The temperature is set at 200 degrees which ensures that the green hardwood doesn’t burn, but smokes all night.
Bandana’s is a barbecue restaurant, that’s what we’re all about, and consistency is the key. What you will find is the best “Southern Style” smoked barbecue pork, beef, chicken, ribs, and turkey you’ve ever tasted. Each order is hand-pulled and hand-cut into bite-sized pieces. And with so few items, there’s no reason not to do it right.
We Only Serve Bandana’s Bar-B-Q Sauces The recipes for these six sauces have become Bandana’s standards. Original (mustard-based), Sweet and Smoky, Spicy and Hot & Chicago Sweet. All six sauces are available on the table for customers to add their favorite finishing touch to our barbecued meats.
We take just as much care with our side dishes as we do with our meat. Our Potato Salad is hand-made, and fresh each day. It’s an old family recipe, it doesn’t come from a 5-gallon foodservice bucket. Our Bar-B-Q Baked Beans are slow-cooked with our special sauce and chunks of smoked meat. We give the same attention to our other sides like; Fried Corn on the Cob, and Grilled Garlic Bread.
We rely on a high volume crowd of barbecue lovers and we like to see them come back, again and again. Our customers are the most important ingredient to our success and we consider them friends. That’s why we treat every guest like they are guests in our home when they stop by for a meal. Every Bandana’s employee can tell you what this means to them because we’ve built a business on great food, friendly service and reasonable prices.
We really know how to slow cook great-tasting barbecue just the way barbecue lovers like it. And we serve it in a fun and friendly environment that appeals to both business people at lunch, and families anytime. Kids love our clean and casual interiors but parents appreciate our fast service. We experience more table turns per day than restaurant industry standards. We can provide a pleasant dining experience for a table of four and have them back on the road within 30 minutes. Faster table turns translates into more sales per mealtime period. Our servers realize more income from these fast turns, and that makes them more loyal. Bandana’s has a lower turnover rate than industry averages.
Carry Out means Big Profits and that’s a nice business to have. Customers can call ahead, go online, or just stop by on their way home to pick up our delicious food. Our barbeque is the ideal Carry Out meal. Without tables to serve and clean, each “To Go” meal represents a higher profit margin. With Bandana’s quick turn around times our Carry Out patrons are in and out in a flash.
Each Bandana’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant has a staff of employees that work specifically for the catering side of the business. We’ve catered office parties and social gatherings for Boeing, Edward Jones, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Energizer Battery Company, Monsanto, and the University of Missouri. Everybody enjoys barbecued food, but they really love Bandana’s. We like to think of our catering business as our primary sampling device. Invariably, some questions about Bandana’s and our great tasting food will come up at these events and we want our people to tell the appropriate brand stories that support the award-winning Bandana’s brand.
This franchise business is built on three sturdy principles: Great Bar-B-Q, impeccable service, and tremendous value. Coupled with the three separate revenue streams of Dine In, Carry Out, and Catering opportunities, we believe a Bandana’s franchise has success written all over it.
